The tour starts in Yangon
after arriving with a morning flight. We will check in a Hotel and
get things settled and organized. After lunch we will be birding in
the parks, downtown Yangon where some common birds like Common Myna,
Little Cormorants, Black Drongo, Tailor Bird, Green Bee-eater and
Bulbuls will be introduced. We will also drive along the Hlaing River
to get a look at the Brown-headed Gull. Those who have not been to
Myanmar before will visit the famous Shwedagon Pagoda later in the
evening.

| Day 2 |
|
| Early in the morning we will
drive to Hlawgar Wild life Park which is on the out skirts of Yangon
to look out for Pale-capped Pigeon, Racket - tailed Treepie, Stripe-throated
Bulbul with white eye which is only found in south Myanmar, Sunbirds,
Orioles, Flowerpeckers, Bee-eaters and some Babblers ,etc. After lunch,
we will drive to Moeyungyi Sanctuary; a vast area of wetland situated
about 110 km, north of Yangon. |

Day 3 |
|
With an early boat ride in
the sanctuary we will be looking for Greater spotted Eagle, Pied Harrier,
Woolly-necked Stork, Asian Openbill, Sarus Crane, Spot-billed Pelican,
Painted Stork among thousands of waders and shorebirds. This sanctuary
is a 40 square mile area and inhabits about 80 species of birds. We
will spend the whole morning birding in the sanctuary.
After lunch we will drive to Pyay which will take about 6 hrs, and
overnight in a hotel.

Day 4 |
|
Starting from early
morning we will be birding the whole day in the dry deciduious forest
near Pyay where we will find 3 out of 4 endemics of Myanmar which
are Hooded Treepie, White - throated Babbler and Burmese Bushlark
together with Burmese Shrike, Parakeets, Starlings, Woodshrikes, Cuckoo
- shrikes, Pigeons, Raptors, Prinias, Orioles, Babblers, etc. Dinner
will be at Pyay where we will spend another overnight.

| Day 5 |
|
| Today, we will drive from Pyay
to Magwe and birding along the way for those who have missed Hooded
Treepie, White - throated Babbler and Burmese Bushlark together with
Burmese Shrike, Parakeets, Starlings, Woodshrikes, Cuckoo - shrikes,
Pigeons, Raptors, Prinias, Orioles, Babblers, etc will have second
chance to find it again. We will overnight at the hotel in Magwe. |

| Day 6 |
We will drive to
Bagan in the morning. After checking in the hotel and having lunch,
those who are tired can have an afternoon siesta. In the evening we
will have a short boat ride along the Irrawaddy River to look out
for Indian Sandlark, Indian Skimmer, Indian River Tern, Black-bellied
Tern, Pied Kingfisher, Laggar Falcon and White-tailed Stonechat and
Pratnicoles along with some water birds.

| Day 7 |

| The next day, birding in Bagan
will add the endemic Burmese Bushlark and White - throated Babbler,
White-bellied Minivet, Spotted Owlet, Rain Quail, Barred Button Quail,
Vinous-breasted Starling and another 20-30 species to our list. Those
interested in archeology will spend some time, visiting famous temples
and pagodas built during the Bagan era about 700-1100 years ago. |

Day 8 |
|
Early morning we will drive about 45 minutes to Chauk with a 4WD vehicle
where we will cross the Irrawaddy River to begin our journey to the
Chin Hills. In the lowland forest along the way we will look out for
the endemic Hooded Treepie, Alexandrine, Grey-headed, Red-breasted
and Blossom-headed Parakeets, White-rumped Falcon, White-eyed Buzzard,
Woodpeckers, Babblers, Laughingthrushes, Minivets, Orioles, Chinese
Francolin , Red Junglefowl, Green Pigeons and many more. Our destination
is to a basic and comfortable Villa in Kanpetlet. Kanpetlet is a town
in Chin State, the nearest to central Myanmar. It is situated at 1400
meters south-east of Mt. Victoria which is also called Khaw-nu-thone
in Chin and Nat-ma-taung in Myanmar, meaning Mother of Spirits, in
both languages. We will spend all Mt. Victoria nights at the Villa
where the temperature is cool and pleasant. |

Day 9-14 |

|
We will be birding
in the Nat-ma-taung (Mt. Victoria) National Park which comprises 280
sq. miles and is home to the endemic White-browed Nuthatch and Black-bibbed
Tit. Various types of habitats on the mountain such as mixed oak and
rhododendrons, Montane bamboo patches, broad leaf evergreen forest,
Pine forest, thick secondary growth with tall grass and scrub, semicultivated
fields and grass lands are rich in birds and a number of specialties
like Brown-capped Laughing-thrush, Black-headed Shrike Babbler, Grey
Sibia, Blue-winged Laughingthrush, Chestsnut-crowned Laughingthrush,
Striped Laughingthrush, Slender-billed Scimitar Babbler, Spot-breasted
Scimitar Babbler, Brown Bush-Warbler, Russet Bush Warbler, Broad-billed
Warbler, Spot-breasted Parrotbill, Black-throated Parrotbill can be
found. During our days in Mt. Victoria (Nat-ma-taung) National Park
we will be exploring different elevations with different habitats
everyday. Birds like Mountain Bamboo Patridge, Thrushes, Robins and
Kalij Pheasants are usually seen on the road when we drive up the
mountain every morning. 5 species of Nuthatches are found at 5 different
elevations, the White-browed at the highest and the Velvet-fronted
at the lowest. Great birds like Blyth’s Tragopan and Hume’s
Pheasant are also a possibility. Rare and colorful birds like Fire
tailed Sunbird, Gould’s Sunbird, Cutia, Chestnut-tailed Minla,
Blue-Winged Minla, Scarlet Finch, Minivets, Robins, and Flycatchers
will keep you excited all the time. In fact it was said that, for
those who have never been to this area before, there is a new bird
in every meter you walk. You can relax the evening with locally brewed
Khaungyay and those interested in tradition and culture can take a
visit to near by villages which is home to tattoo faced Chin tribes.
If you think the thrill is not enough you can climb up to the summit
which is 3110 meters high and is about half a day’s walk from
the highest mortorable place.

| Day 15 |

|
We will drive back to Bagan
and those who have missed the lowland specialties will have a chance
to find it again.
Overnight will be at a hotel in Bagan.

| Day 16 |
|
|
| Continuing our journey to Shan
plateau will take about half a day‘s drive with some time to
spend in the lowland forest to look out for birds like White-browed
Scimitar Babbler, White-bellied Woodpecker, Green-billed Malkoha,
Velvet-fronted Nuthatch, White-rumped Shama, Yellow-footed Pigeon,
Doves, Sunbirds and Prinias. Dinner will be at Kalaw where we will
spend the night. |

| Day 17 |
| After a few minutes drive in
the morning, we will walk and start birding on the way to Yay Aye
Kan Lake where we will look for Burmese Yuhina, White-browed and Black-throated
Laughingthrushes, Grey-headed Parrotbill, Silver-breasted and Long-tailed
Broadbills, Maroon Oriole, Little Pied Flycatcher, Dark-backed Sibia,
Spectacled Barwing, Green Magpie and Flavescent Bulbul. After lunch
at Yay Aye Kan, we will walk back to the car birding along the way.

| Day 18 |

| |
Morning birding
in Kalaw for Brown-breasted Bulbul and Collared Myna. And after lunch,
we will drive about 50 minutes to Inlay Lake to check in a hotel and
have dinner. |

| Day 19 |
Today’s boat ride in
the lake will be for the Jerdon’s Bushchat and some wetland
related birds which are found only in this area. Those who have missed
other water and shore birds earlier in the trip will have a chance
to find it here again. We will also have excellent views of Brown-headed
Gull and the Black-Headed Gull following the boat.
After lunch, we will drive to Heho to catch an evening flight to Yangon.

areas are located in remote parts of the country, not visited by ordinary
tourist, we need prior notice at least two to three month in advance
to prepare for these trips. |
